Kheri, 18 May (HS): On Monday morning, a speeding vehicle slammed head-on with
a van in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district, killing nine people,
according to officials. The collision occurred at Sisaia, which is located on
NH-730 in the Isanagar police station region of Lakhimpur Kheri. The crash was
so strong that the vehicle was entirely destroyed, according to authorities.
Officials reported that nine persons perished on the scene and one was
critically injured. The injured person was taken to a neighboring hospital and
is presently receiving treatment.
Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of heart wrenching incident and penned
a post on X, which reads as follows: “The loss of lives in the unfortunate road
accident in Lakhimpur Kheri district is extremely heartbreaking and
soul-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved families. Instructions
have been issued to the local administration to provide prompt and adequate
assistance to the injured and the affected. I pray to Lord Shri Ram that the
departed souls find a place at His divine feet and the injured recover swiftly.”
According
to police, the vehicle had around ten occupants. Following the disaster, panic
swept over the region. Locals quickly called the cops. When officials received
the information, they arrived to the location to conduct rescue efforts.
According
to residents, the van was traveling from Lakhimpur to Sisaia, while the truck
was driving from Bahraich, when they hit head on. The corpses of the deceased
have been taken into custody by police and transported for post-mortem
examination.
Meanwhile,
a vehicle and a combine harvester collided near Bahraich late Sunday night,
killing four people and injuring two more. The victims were hospitalized due to
their serious injuries. According to authorities, the fast automobile, which
was driving from Nepal to Bahraich, crashed with a wheat-harvesting combine
equipment at Digha More in Brahmnipur. Police officers investigated the
accident site and gave orders to undertake a comprehensive inquiry into the
situation.

(Rural) DP Tiwari spoke about the disaster, stating that the remains were
extricated and submitted for a post-mortem examination. The relatives of the
dead have been notified, and additional legal processes are being conducted.
Investigations into both accidents are ongoing. Further information is awaited.
