Jammu, 18 May (H.S.): Priya Sethi, vice president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir and former Minister, stressed the importance of booth-level organization and grassroots strengthening while addressing party workers during the district-level programme organised in Akhnoor.
The programme was organised by BJP district Akhnoor and attended by several senior party leaders and workers. Among those present were MLA, Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Bhagat, Kuldeep Sharma, district president, Akhnoor, Vinay Gupta, Prabhari, and Vaishno, Seh-Prabhari.
Addressing the gathering, Priya Sethi said that many people have witnessed several elections and political changes over the years and understand how political movements and public opinion are shaped. She said the foremost priority of the BJP has always been the welfare of the nation and strengthening the country from the grassroots level.
She said Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee even sacrificed his cabinet position and later his life while struggling to protect the nation’s interests, particularly over the issue of Article 370.
Sethi stated that the BJP expanded its reach by working tirelessly at the booth level and connecting directly with people.
Highlighting the example of West Bengal, Priya Sethi said it once appeared impossible for the BJP to establish itself there because of the dominance of regional political forces. However, through continuous grassroots efforts, the party succeeded in creating a strong base.
“In West Bengal, around 70,000 booths were established and BJP workers were activated at every booth. It was this strong booth-level structure and dedication of workers that helped the party grow politically,” she said.
“Booth-level workers form the backbone of the BJP and are responsible for carrying the party’s ideology and programmes to every household,” she asserted.
Speaking about Jammu and Kashmir, Priya Sethi highlighted the BJP’s political growth over the years. She said the party had very limited representation in earlier elections but gradually strengthened its position through disciplined organization and hard work by party workers.
