18 May (HS): At the call of the State Congress Committee, a sit-in and

demonstration was held at the District Court in the afternoon under the aegis

of the City and District Congress Committees. Congressmen held anti-Modi

government placards, chanting, Down with Modi government, roll back

rising inflation, roll back the hikes in petrol, diesel, gas, and CNG

prices.

President Fuzail Hashmi and District President Ashok Patel jointly stated that

Prime Minister Modi's wrong foreign policies and his refusal to buy cheaper

petrol from Iran and Russia have ruined the country by becoming a stooge of

America. A commercial cylinder priced at Rs. 3,200, domestic cylinder priced at

Rs. 1,250, and a 5-kg cylinder for the poor has increased by Rs. 261 are

burning huge hole in pockets of consumers. Petroleum prices will rise sharply

in the coming days, leading to widespread inflation. Like other predictions by

opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, this one, too, has come true.
