18 May (HS): The second meeting of the Board of Governors of Major Dhyanchand
Sports University, Meerut, was held virtually on Monday at Jan Bhavan under the
chairmanship of Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Chancellor of
State Universities. In the meeting, various important agenda points related to
the university's academic, administrative, financial, and infrastructural
development were discussed in detail and necessary instructions were given.
The
Governor directed officials from all relevant departments to meet together and
develop an action plan for the smooth and effective operation of the
university. She also directed that all university regulations be completed in a
timely manner and that necessary furniture and infrastructure be made available
before the start of the academic session.
She
said that to make the university a national-level institution of sports
education and sports excellence, all work should be ensured with quality and
timeliness, so that the state's players can have access to modern facilities
and excellent training. She said that badminton rackets manufactured at
Chaudhary Charan Singh University should be used and necessary support should
be provided in this work. She also directed to ensure high quality of all
sports equipment.
A
detailed discussion was held regarding the status of vacant and working
positions in relation to the approved teaching and non-teaching positions in
the university. The Governor directed that the recruitment process be completed
in a timely manner in accordance with the MSME, government orders, and the
recruitment requirement plan sent by Jan Bhavan, and necessary action be taken
as per the rules to fill the vacant posts expeditiously. Instructions were also
given to arrange for contract-based, visiting, and guest teachers as needed.
The
Governor directed that the university's academic calendar be prepared in
accordance with the academic calendar issued by the department each year, and
all academic and administrative activities be conducted. She also directed that
all university activities be conducted on the Samarth portal. During this, the
Governor directed that only organic food products produced in Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut should be
used in the food items used in the university.
The
proposed MoUs with Sports Authority of India (SAI), New Delhi, National
Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala, IISM Mumbai, IIM Indore, IIT Madras and
Indian Army to strengthen the academic and sports collaboration of the University
were also discussed. The expenditure incurred in the financial year 2025-26 and
the approval of the proposed budget expenditure for the year 2026-27 were
considered. The meeting reviewed the progress of construction work underway at
the university, the annual report for the academic year 2025-26, and the
compliance with the decisions taken at the first meeting of the Board of
Governors.
