New Delhi, May 18 (H.S.):Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party following the arrest of AAP leader Deepak Singla in connection with an alleged bank fraud case after an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi BJP office, Sachdeva said that the arrest of East Delhi AAP leader Deepak Singla after the ED’s probe into a major bank scam has exposed “another dark face” of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Sachdeva alleged that while allegations of bribery and corruption involving AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, have already remained a matter of public discussion, fresh revelations have now exposed another dimension of alleged wrongdoing by party leaders. He claimed that alongside bribery, AAP leaders are now facing accusations related to the purchase of properties using black money, tax evasion, and bank loan fraud.
The Delhi BJP chief further said that although Delhi residents are shocked by the alleged misuse of bank loans amounting to thousands of crores by Deepak Singla, this is not the first instance of alleged financial crimes involving AAP leaders. Referring to other party members, he stated that from Satyendar Jain to Sanjeev Arora, several names linked to alleged financial irregularities and corruption have already surfaced before the public.
Sachdeva also recalled that allegations involving former minister Satyendar Jain creating shell companies and allegedly routing bribe money had surfaced during 2018–19, which, he claimed, was then dismissed by Kejriwal as a political conspiracy.
He further alleged that while AAP leaders arrested in various bribery and corruption cases were repeatedly defended by the party as victims of politically motivated actions, the recent allegations involving Punjab minister Sanjeev Arora and Delhi AAP leader Deepak Singla in tax evasion and bank fraud cases have presented a “new face of corruption” before the people of Delhi and the country.
The Delhi BJP president said it was astonishing to imagine that a state minister could allegedly be arrested in connection with a GST scam, while party leaders who have contested elections were allegedly involved in bank loan frauds.
Sachdeva added that the nation now expects Arvind Kejriwal to expel both Sanjeev Arora and Deepak Singla from the party.
Delhi BJP vice-president Yogita Singh and party spokesperson Yasir Jilani were also present at the press conference.
