West Bengal, 17 May (H.S.): BJP councillor Shashi Singh Jha on Sunday inspected the ongoing construction work of the Rishra underpass near the No. 3 railway gate in Rishra and reviewed the progress of the project.

During the visit, the councillor interacted with workers and officials engaged in the construction work.

Speaking to Hindusthan Samachar, Shashi Singh Jha said the underpass project was nearing completion.

“The work on the eastern side has already been completed and the box structure beneath the railway line is ready. The remaining work on the western side is yet to be opened,” she said.

The BJP councillor added that the underpass would be opened for public use once the remaining work is completed.

The underpass project was undertaken to address the severe traffic congestion at the Rishra No. 3 railway gate, a major bottleneck in the area.

Local residents are expected to benefit significantly from the project after its completion, as thousands of commuters regularly face traffic snarls at the railway crossing.
