The programme was held in Ward No. 11 of Rishra Municipality and was attended by several RSS functionaries, BJP leaders, elected representatives and party workers.

Among those present were RSS divisional pracharak Nayan Majhi, Rishra Nagar Sanghchalak Dinesh Pediwal, Nagar Karyavah Ashok Singh, Serampore MLA Bhaskar Bhattacharya, Uttarpara MLA Dipanjan Chakraborty, Chandannagar MLA Dipanjan Guha, councillor Shashi Singh Jha and councillor Manoj Singh.

Addressing the gathering, Bhaskar Bhattacharya highlighted the role of the RSS in nation-building and social development. Remembering RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, he said the organisation had made significant contributions towards social awakening and national service.

Speakers at the programme said that after the BJP formed the government in West Bengal, the responsibilities of the RSS had increased further and stressed the need to expand social service and ideological outreach among different sections of society.

Senior RSS volunteer and chief organiser of the event, Ratan Agarwal, said the programme was organised to celebrate the “victory of Sanatan Dharma” and to encourage party workers.

He said similar programmes would continue to be organised in the future.
