Bhubaneswar, 17 May (H.S.): The Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha, on Sunday organized a large-scale ‘Sundays on Cycle’ programme to promote fitness, a healthy lifestyle, and environmentally friendly transportation.
The event was inaugurated by Minister for Higher Education, Sports and Youth Services, and Odia Language, Literature and Culture Suryabanshi Suraj, who flagged off the cycling initiative in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Fit India” movement, with the broader goal of building a “Fit Odisha.” He said the programme aims to encourage citizens to adopt a healthy and eco-conscious lifestyle.
He further emphasized that in today’s fast-paced life and amid rising fuel concerns, cycling not only helps maintain physical fitness but also contributes to saving fuel and protecting the environment.
Calling for collective participation, the Minister urged citizens to make cycling a part of their daily routine and contribute towards building a greener and more progressive Odisha.
