Chandigarh, 16 May (H.S.): A special group of Sikh devotees will depart for Pakistan on June 10 to participate in the annual martyrdom anniversary of the fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The commemorative event is held at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore.

There is significant enthusiasm among devotees regarding this religious pilgrimage. So far, around 600 devotees have submitted their passports for visa processing.

As per the schedule, the group will visit historic gurdwaras in Pakistan, take part in the martyrdom ceremony in Lahore, and return to India on June 19.

It is noteworthy that due to a recent controversy over the Nanakshahi calendar dates, devotees were unable to attend the event previously. However, preparations are in full swing this time. Despite this, the government has not yet issued an official notification regarding the pilgrimage.

Organizers remain hopeful that approval will be granted soon, allowing devotees to visit religious sites in Pakistan without any hindrance.
