Union Minister Pradhan Launches Poet Krushn Jagdev’s Book ‘Kavita Kusumanjali’ in Puri

Bhubaneswar, 16 May (H.S.): Renowned Odia poet and columnist Krushnachandra Jagdev’s latest poetry collection ‘Kavita Kusumanjali’ was formally unveiled on the auspicious occasion of Savitri Amavasya in the sacred city of Puri, a prominent centre of Odia literature, culture and identity.

The book was launched by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who attended the literary event as the chief guest and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the poet and publishers.

Addressing the gathering in Puri, Mr. Pradhan described ‘Kavita Kusumanjali’ as more than just a compilation of poems, calling it “a vibrant expression of devotion, social consciousness and patriotism.” He stated that the poetry collection beautifully blends spiritual surrender with deep social sensitivity.

The Union Minister praised Krushnachandra Jagdev as a multifaceted personality deeply influenced by the ideals of Gopabandhu Das and the cultural ethos of Puri. He noted that Jagdev has long served society as a dedicated pracharak of the Sangh Parivar and a committed worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party, devoting his life to public welfare and social service.

During his speech, Mr. Pradhan also shared an old anecdote involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He recalled that during the Emergency period, Mr. Modi had visited Odisha for historical documentation work as a Sangh activist. Since an office in Puri was locked at the time, Mr. Modi travelled to Jagdev’s village on his scooter. Even after becoming Prime Minister, Mr. Modi warmly recognised and greeted his old associate at a public event, reflecting his affection and respect for Jagdev, Mr. Pradhan said.

Highlighting the cultural significance of the year 2026, Dharmendra Pradhan stated that India is witnessing a new era of cultural resurgence nearly 1,000 years after the 1026 attack on the Somnath Temple, which had shaken the nation’s confidence. He said that with the blessings of Lord Somnath and Mahaprabhu Jagannath, India is regaining its cultural pride and self-confidence, laying the foundation for a “Viksit Odisha” and “Viksit Bharat.”

Earlier in the day, the Union Minister paid floral tributes to the statue of Gopabandhu Das at Gopabandhu Ayurvedic Mahavidyalaya. He remarked that the ideals of sacrifice, service and social commitment embodied by Gopabandhu Das would continue to inspire generations.
