Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound grief on Friday over the loss of lives due to a boat (cruise) capsizing in the Bargi Dam located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He conveyed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

In a message posted on social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated that local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected people. He announced financial aid from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF), providing ₹2 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured.

Notably, on Thursday evening during a sudden storm, a cruise carrying tourists capsized in the Bargi Dam. Approximately 40 to 45 people were onboard at the time of the accident, which occurred about 300 meters from the shore.

As of Friday morning, 9 bodies have been recovered, while 24 people have been safely rescued. Over 9 individuals remain missing, with search operations ongoing.
