New Delhi, 01 May (H.S.):
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the launch of India's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrier-free toll system in Gujarat. This state-of-the-art system has been implemented at the Choryasi Toll Plaza on the Surat-Bharuch section (National Highway-48), allowing vehicles to pass without stopping for toll payments.
According to the ministry, the system relies on Automatic Number Plate Recognition and Fastag-like advanced technologies, enabling completely seamless and rapid toll collection. This will facilitate smoother vehicle movement and significantly reduce congestion at toll plazas.
Nitin Gadkari stated that this initiative marks a major step toward digitizing the country's toll mechanism and modernizing national highway infrastructure. It will reduce travel time, save fuel, and decrease vehicular pollution.
Gadkari emphasized that this effort reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to developing world-class, technology-driven highway infrastructure across the country, making transportation more convenient and safer.
