New Delhi, 01 May (H.S.):
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the ‘Catch the Rain 2026’ campaign at R.K. Puram on Friday, vowing to transform rainwater harvesting into a people’s movement. During the event, the mascot ‘Neera-Pani ki Vaani’ was unveiled to raise awareness on water conservation. Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, and MLA Anil Kumar Sharma were present.
Posting on her social media account X, the Chief Minister said every raindrop is a safeguard for the future. If we capture it where it falls, Delhi’s water situation can transform dramatically. Make ‘Catch the Rain’ not just a campaign but a way of life. She emphasized that rainwater harvesting embodies our traditional wisdom and must become a modern necessity.
Government measures like subsidies up to ₹50,000, 10-15% discounts on water bills, and free technical assistance are accelerating this effort. The goal is to actively involve every home, rooftop, and institution.
Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh stated that Delhi lacks water scarcity but the mindset to conserve it. Now is the time for every building, society, and colony to adopt rainwater harvesting. This is not just the government’s campaign—it’s ours.
