Bhubaneswar, 09 April (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated three new grid substations and eight major transmission lines at Balianta in Khordha district, marking a significant enhancement in the region’s power infrastructure. These projects, with an estimated investment of around Rs 600 crore, are designed to strengthen and expand the electricity transmission network across Bhubaneswar and neighboring areas.

Officials stated that the upgraded infrastructure will enhance power reliability, reduce outages, and meet the increasing energy demands of the state capital and its surroundings.

As part of the initiative, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a high-capacity grid substation at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. This facility is expected to provide uninterrupted power supply to the premier healthcare institution, which serves a large number of patients from across Odisha.

Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi highlighted the government’s focus on bolstering critical infrastructure to ensure quality power supply in both urban and rural sectors. He noted, “Bhubaneswar is poised to become a major IT city and a semiconductor hub, offering vast opportunities for residents. Multiple road development projects are underway in Balianta and Balakati, alongside plans for new housing societies. Additionally, a gas-insulated substation costing Rs 120 crore will be established in Nayapalli by April 2025.”

The inauguration of these power projects is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting industrial growth, urban development, and enhanced public services across the region.
