New Delhi, 08 April (H.S.):

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, greenlit a ₹14,105.83 crore investment for the 1,200 MW Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project (HEP) on the Lohit River in Anjaw district. Slated for 78-month completion, this pioneering Lohit Basin initiative will generate 4,852.95 million units (MU) annually.

Configured as 6x190 MW and 1x60 MW units, the project fortifies Arunachal Pradesh's power infrastructure, manages peak demand, and stabilizes the national grid.

Joint Venture and Funding

THDC India Limited and Arunachal Pradesh Government partner for execution. Central support includes ₹599.88 crore for roads, bridges, and transmission lines, plus ₹750 crore state equity aid.

Arunachal gains 12% free power and 1% Local Area Development Fund (LADF), alongside infrastructure like 29 km roads/bridges and CSR benefits—jobs, compensation, and facilities in Anjaw and Namsai districts.
