Jammu, 07 April (H.S.): Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) today installed a hoarding at the Akhnoor Bridge, displaying and referring to it as “Yuvraj Karan Singh Bridge.”

The Sabha maintained that the bridge was originally constructed and named in honour of Yuvraj Karan Singh in the year 1931, but over the decades-particularly after independence-its original name gradually faded due to neglect by successive Governments.

The Sabha claimed that this initiative represents an effort to restore historical identity and correct a long-standing oversight.

YRS said that it had earlier submitted multiple memorandums to the concerned authorities, requesting the formal restoration of the bridge’s original name. However, it added, despite repeated appeals, no action was taken, leading the organization to take this step in response to the sentiments of the people.

Sharing detail, YRS Chief Spokesperson Vishal Singh said that the installation of the hoarding was carried out by YRS leaders, members, and supporters who gathered at the Akhnoor Bridge in a peaceful and united show of strength and solidarity under the leadership of YRS President Mandeep Singh Rimpy.

“The participants collectively installed a hoarding prominently displaying the name Yuvraj Karan Singh Bridge, reaffirming their demand for official recognition of the historic name,” he said.

Mandeep Singh Rimpy (President, YRS), former President Vikram Singh Vicky, Rajan Singh Happy, Founder Members Rajinder Singh, Rajesh Singh and Ranjit Singh , Core Committee members Pushvinder Singh, Mohan Singh, and Bablu Singh, along with a large number of supporters were present on the occasion.

The Yuva Rajput Sabha reiterated that the demand is based on historical authenticity and the collective sentiment of the people. The organization urged the administration to take immediate cognizance of the matter and initiate the formal process for restoring and officially recognizing the name “Yuvraj Karan Singh Bridge.”

The Sabha also highlighted the importance of preserving historical heritage and ensuring that such landmarks retain their original identity for future generations. It expressed hope that the concerned authorities would act promptly and respect the aspirations of the public.
