Bhubaneswar, 07 April (H.S.): A workshop titled “Reimagining Capacity Building for Grassroots Governance” was successfully organised at Krushi Bhawan in Bhubaneswar as part of the nationwide Sadhana Saptah campaign. The programme was jointly organised by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), the Department of Personnel and Training, Karmayogi Bharat, and the Government of Odisha.

The workshop focused on strengthening grassroots governance by integrating technology, tradition, and tangible outcomes.

Addressing the event as the chief guest, Odisha’s Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Rabi Narayan Naik, said that strong panchayats form the foundation of inclusive and sustainable development. He emphasised the need for continuous, skill-based training systems to empower Panchayati Raj representatives. The minister also expressed his commitment to bringing transformative changes at the panchayat level with the support of dedicated and skilled government officials under the Mission Karmayogi initiative.

Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Member (HR) of the Capacity Building Commission, highlighted the vision of Mission Karmayogi and the role of the CBC in strengthening capacity building across government institutions. He stressed the importance of shifting governance from a rule-based system to a role-based system, with a stronger focus on citizen-centric service delivery.

The event was also attended by Rajesh Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India; Girish S.N., Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department; Madhusmita Samal, Director of the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD); along with other senior officials of the Odisha Panchayati Raj Department, who shared their insights during the discussions.
