Haflong (Assam), 07 April (HS): With only two days remaining for the Assam Assembly elections, polling personnel have been dispatched in advance to remote polling stations under the Haflong Assembly constituency to ensure smooth conduct of voting scheduled on April 9.
The administration has intensified preparations across the state, where polling will be held in a single phase across all 126 assembly constituencies. While polling teams are usually sent a day before the election, special arrangements have been made this time for inaccessible regions.
Under the 113 Haflong (ST) Assembly constituency, polling personnel assigned to far-flung areas were flagged off on Tuesday itself, considering the difficult terrain and logistical challenges.
According to the District Election Officer’s office in Dima Hasao, reaching certain polling stations such as Jinam Valley involves a long journey from Haflong via Silchar and Harinagar. Due to the challenging geographical conditions, teams were sent early to ensure they reach their destinations safely and on time.
The personnel have been dispatched along with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and other essential election materials.
Officials further stated that polling teams for the remaining stations will leave for their respective locations on April 8. The Election Commission is closely monitoring all arrangements to ensure that the voting process is conducted peacefully and fairly.------------
