Tinsukia (Assam), 27 April (HS): Acting on specific inputs, police in Digboi town under Tinsukia district carried out a raid and apprehended six individuals allegedly involved in gambling activities.

According to police sources, the operation was conducted at a house operating as JJ Boys Hostel located in Lajit Nagar area of Digboi town. The raid was led by Digboi Sub-Divisional Police Officer Himanshu Gohain, during which the accused were caught red-handed.

Among those arrested, three are reportedly employees of India Oil Corporation (IOC). The accused have been identified as Arun Charki, Naresh Kumar Shilsut, Madu Madhav Rao, Mohammad Hasan, Pankaj Das and Goldy Bagra.

Police also seized cash along with gambling-related materials from their possessions. Sources further revealed that the premises, under the guise of a hostel, had allegedly been used for gambling activities for a considerable period.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further legal proceedings are underway.------------
