Mumbai, 27 Apr (HS): In a shocking incident four

members of a family died after consuming biryani and watermelon, suspected due

to food poisoning. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem after which the

source of poisoning, biryani or watermelon, would be ascertained. The incident

occurred in Paidhuni area of South Mumbai.

A police officer told media on Monday that Abdullah

Dokadia, a resident of Mughal Building in Ghati Lane had thrown a party on

April 25. Five of the guests consumed Chicken Biryani and four deceased

consumed watermelon after that. Their health condition started deteriorating

and were rushed to J J Hospital for treatment. The four died late on Sunday

night.

The deceased have been identified as Abdullah

Dokadia (40), his wife Nasrin (35) and daughters Zainab (13) and Ayesha (16).

Police are investigating into the reported deaths

due to food poisoning.
