Deoria,
April 26 (HS): Uttar Pradesh Minister of
State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh said on Sunday that
by opposing the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, the entire
opposition, including the Congress, had insulted Indian women. He expressed deep
concern over the bill's failure to pass, calling it unfortunate.
State
Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh held a press conference on Sunday in the
auditorium of Vikas Bhawan in Deoria district. He stated that this is not
merely a legislative process issue, but an important topic related to women's
rights and participation. The Minister stated unequivocally that the Modi-Yogi
government is committed to women's empowerment and is making every possible
effort in this direction. The Transport Minister further stated that the bill
related to women's reservation aims to give women greater representation and
rights in society. Therefore, its failure to pass is certainly a matter of
concern. He said that in a democracy, every bill requires extensive discussion,
but it is also essential that positive decisions be made on issues of public
interest. He expressed hope that consensus will be reached on this bill in the
future and it will be passed.
The
minister also took a dig at the opposition, saying that important bills are
delayed due to political reasons, affecting the interests of the general
public, especially women. However, he also stated that the government is
committed to maintaining dialogue with all parties and will attempt to resolve
this issue through dialogue. He added that the state government is already
implementing several schemes for women's safety, education, and employment.
Special facilities and opportunities are also being expanded for women in the
Transport Department, enabling them to become self-reliant. The government is
fully prepared to advance other proposals related to women's interests.
