
Imphal, 26 April (HS): Manipur Police has arrested six individuals in the Greater Imphal area for allegedly disturbing public peace, inciting violence and affecting law and order. The arrests were made during a special operation conducted on Saturday to restore normalcy and prevent further unrest in the region.
According to information shared by the police on Sunday, the arrested accused have been identified as Yumnam Somnath alias Nongasaba (21), Ningthoujam Prem Singh (25), Sorokhaibam Rustam (25), Ngairangbam Yaikhomba (25), Wangkhem Ingo Meitei (30) and Moirangthem Naoba Meitei (24).
Police officials stated that the accused were allegedly involved in violent activities and creating disturbances in several sensitive areas of Greater Imphal, leading to tension and disruption of law and order.
To control the situation, the administration has further strengthened security arrangements in affected and vulnerable areas. Additional security personnel have been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the safety of residents.
Police also confirmed that interrogation of the arrested individuals is underway to ascertain whether a larger network or additional persons are involved in the incidents. Investigating agencies are examining all aspects of the case.
The administration has appealed to the public to maintain peace, avoid spreading or believing rumours and cooperate with authorities in maintaining law and order. Police have reiterated that strict action will continue against those involved in creating unrest.-----------
