April 26 (HS): A father was detained here on Sunday for reportedly murdering

his 20-year-old son on the belief that he was having an illegal connection with

his mother, police said. The culprit, Girish Chandra Jaiswal alias Pappu

Jaiswal, was caught by Kareli police following an inquiry into the murder that

occurred in the 'Chaat Wali Gali' neighbourhood. Nikita Srivastava, Assistant

Commissioner of Police in Atarsuiya, stated that the event occurred on Saturday

when the accused reportedly struck his son, Priyanshu Jaiswal, in the head with

a heavy item, killing him. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the

crime and said that he suspected his son of having an illegitimate connection

with his own mother, prompting him to take such drastic measures, according to

the ACP.

According

to the officer, a case has been lodged under the relevant provisions of the

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in response to a formal complaint. Additional legal

processes are presently underway.
