Prayagraj,

April 26 (HS): In a significant boost to

India’s infrastructure narrative, Pravir Pandey, Additional Deputy Comptroller

and Auditor General, visited the Operation Control Centre (OCC) of the Eastern

Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) today. The visit underscored the

transformative impact of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India

Limited (DFCCIL) on the nation’s logistical landscape. During his tour of the

state-of-the-art OCC, Pandey witnessed the cutting-edge technology driving

modern rail freight. A major highlight of the visit was the recognition of a

monumental achievement: the 100% shifting of freight trains from traditional

Indian Railways tracks to the DFC. This transition has successfully decongested

the main passenger lines, allowing for higher speeds and improved reliability

across the rail network. Pandey lauded the shift, noting that it

represents a fundamental change in how India manages its industrial supply

chains.

The

visit also focused on the future of integrated logistics. Key discussions

included:

New

Jeonathpur Connectivity: Progress on rail links to New Jeonathpur and its

synergy with the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).

Bulk

Cargo Impact: How shifting heavy cargo to the DFC is directly improving India’s

global Logistics Performance Index (LPI).

The

Next Frontier: The upcoming East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor, which is set

to link vital trade routes and further optimize regional zonal railways.

Pandey,

who was on an official tour that included the Banaras Locomotive Works and the

MSME Central Region Workshop in Ranchi, took a moment to congratulate the

Prayagraj CGM unit and the wider DFCCIL team. The momentum and dedication

displayed here are setting new benchmarks for the country's transportation

sector encouraging the team to continue their trajectory of growth and

innovation.

The

high-level visit saw participation from senior officials across the auditing

and railway sectors, including Teg Singh, Principal Director of Audit (Railway

Commercial), Vivek Kumar Bhaskar, Principal Director (Railways) Gorakhpur, Sanjeev

Gupta, Executive Director (Finance), DFCCIL Corporate Office, A.B. Saran, Chief

General Manager, Prayagraj, Ashish Mishra, General Manager(Security), Shashikant

Dwivedi, General Manager (Electrical), Mannu Prakash Dubey, General Manager

(Operations and Business Development), Brijesh Smith, Deputy Project

Manager/OP&BD and other officers from DFCCIL.

Also

Officer from Auditor General Office accompanied during the tour: As India moves

toward a more robust economic future, the modernization of freight systems

remains a cornerstone of growth. The successful integration of real-time

tracking, automated systems, and multimodal hubs as seen at the EDFC ensures

that the Indian economy is powered by a world-class, high-speed logistics

backbone.
