Varanasi,
April 25 (HS): To ensure uninterrupted, safe, and high-quality power supply to
consumers in the Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh, state Energy Minister AK
Sharma flagged off two state-of-the-art 24x7 vans in the city on
Saturday. The initiative aims to minimize the time required for electrical
fault repairs.
According
to electricity department officials, these two specialized vehicles are
equipped with modern safety equipment and the necessary T&P kits to handle
any technical challenge. To provide truly 24/7 service in the city, the crews
deployed on these vehicles will work in three shifts of eight hours each daily.
Each shift will be staffed by a skilled team of supervisors, linemen, and
helpers.
Designed
to provide comprehensive 24x7 emergency van services, the van will facilitate
HT maintenance and transformer replacement. High tension (HT) lines will be
maintained, breakdowns repaired, and transformer and crossarm replacements will
be promptly replaced if necessary. Underground and AB cable fault repair will
be facilitated. State-of-the-art equipment will enable rapid detection of
faults in underground cables. Worn and damaged AB cables and damaged conductors
will also be replaced promptly.
Apart
from this, it will be easier to straighten or replace broken or tilted poles
due to natural disaster or accident immediately. Tree pruning and line
clearance will also be beneficial. This includes pruning tree branches to keep
overhead lines safe and free from obstructions, so that there is no risk of
short-circuit. This will not only prevent breakdowns, but also make it easier
to rectify potential faults in advance by conducting regular surveys of power
lines. In case of power disruption in any area, reaching the spot immediately
and rectifying the fault will restore the supply as soon as possible.
