Dehradun, 25 April (HS): The Uttarakhand government has conferred the Chief Minister’s Appreciation Award for the year 2025–26 on the 127 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army Ecological), Garhwal Rifles.
Defence Public Relations Officer Colonel Manish Srivastava said the battalion carried out extensive afforestation activities over the past year, including plantation of eight lakh saplings as part of its assigned target. Under the “Bhagidari aur Jimmedari” campaign, the unit implemented large-scale plantation drives.
Through these initiatives, not only were plantation targets strengthened, but awareness and a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation were also promoted among the public.
The award by the Uttarakhand government recognises the battalion’s commitment, exemplary work and sustained efforts towards environmental protection.
