Guwahati, 22 April (HS): A severe storm lashed several parts of Assam along with Goalpara district during the night, causing widespread damage and disruption of normal life.
Strong winds and heavy rainfall uprooted trees and left many areas battered, with debris scattered across roads and residential localities in Golapara and Dhubri districts. The storm resulted in a complete disruption of electricity supply across the affected regions, plunging large parts of the Goalpara district into darkness.
Areas including Velakhamar, Manikpur, Tengabari, Bolla and Bhojmala were among the worst hit, witnessing significant damage due to the storm’s intensity. Authorities are yet to assess the full extent of the losses, while efforts are underway to restore power and clear blocked routes.-----------
