
Mumbai, 22 Apr (HS): The Bombay High Court on
Wednesday acquitted four accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case of 2006, for
want of adequate evidence against them. The High Court also nullified the
verdict of Special NIA Court.
According to Adv Kaushik Mhatre the NIA in 2025 had
framed charges against the four accused – Rajendra Chaudhari, Dhan Sinh,
Manohar Ram Sinh Narvaria and Lokesh Sharma. The accused had preferred appeal
against the NIA order.
Malegaon in Nashik district experienced powerful
four blasts on 8 September 2006, three in Hamidia Masjid and Bada Kabristan area
and fourth on Mushawarat Square. ATS had initiated investigation in the case
and had arrested nine persons. Late the investigation was handed over to NIA,
which arrested the above four accused and the earlier nine accused were
released. Chargesheet against the four was filed. However, the High Court
acquitted them on Wednesday for want of adequate evidence against them.
