Kolkata, 22 April (H.S.): The Election Commission has published a fresh list of voters, on wednesday, whose cases were cleared by tribunals ahead of the first phase of polling in the West Bengal Assembly elections.

According to reports, the list includes voters whose names were previously under scrutiny during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and have now been declared eligible to vote after tribunal decisions. The updated voter list has been released booth-wise to facilitate smooth voting on polling day.

The move comes in compliance with directions related to the ongoing verification process of electoral rolls. A large number of voters had earlier been marked under “adjudication,” and their eligibility depended on tribunal hearings and document verification.

Officials said the publication of this supplementary list will ensure that eligible voters are not deprived of their voting rights during the first phase. However, authorities have not disclosed the total number of voters included in this latest list.

Voters can check their names in the updated list through the Election Commission’s official website or by visiting designated polling-related offices. The updated rolls are expected to play a crucial role in ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process.

The first phase of polling in West Bengal is scheduled for April 23.
