Kokrajhar (Assam), 19 April (HS): In a major anti-narcotics operation, police seized a large quantity of drugs worth approximately ₹2 crore from a vehicle in the Srirampur area under Kokrajhar district and arrested one person allegedly involved in trafficking.

According to police sources, the operation was carried out late Saturday night under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Monturam Boro and Simultapu police outpost in-charge Sanjiv Handique. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the team intercepted a suspected vehicle and conducted a thorough search.

During the search, narcotic substances were recovered from the fuel tank of a Maruti car bearing Gujarat registration number GJ-01HW-6169. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Silchar via Guwahati towards Rajasthan.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Krishnaram Prajapat, a resident of Jodhpur in Rajasthan, was apprehended at the spot. Preliminary estimates put the market value of the seized drugs at around ₹2 crore.

Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case and are working to trace other individuals linked to the trafficking network.-----------
