South Dinajpur, 19 April (H.S.): Amid the ongoing campaign for the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP national president Nitin Nabin held a roadshow in Balurghat of Dakshin Dinajpur district on Sunday. The roadshow was conducted from Mangalpur crossing to Thana crossing in support of BJP candidate Bidyut Kumar Roy, who is contesting from the Balurghat Assembly seat.

Addressing the gathering, Nabin launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress government in the state. He alleged that an “anti-women alliance” is active in the country, referring to parties like Trinamool Congress, Congress, DMK, and the Samajwadi Party. According to him, these parties obstructed a bill that would have ensured rights for women.

He further claimed that the people of West Bengal would respond strongly to what he described as an insult to women. Criticising the opposition’s stance, he said they were using delimitation as an excuse, despite the process taking place during their own tenure, and accused them of lacking faith in their own laws.

Targeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said that despite being a woman leader, she opposed women’s reservation. He added that women in West Bengal would “teach her a lesson” and asserted that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act would eventually be implemented in the future.
