
Kolkata, 15 April (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of the Bengali New Year, issuing a video message that emphasized the importance of preserving Bengal’s cultural heritage and communal harmony.
In her address, Banerjee said that Bengal has long been a land of art, culture, and unity among diverse communities. However, she alleged that certain “inauspicious forces” are attempting to disrupt this legacy. She also claimed that democratic rights of the people are being undermined and urged citizens to respond through democratic means.
Appealing to the public, the Chief Minister called for unity beyond all divisions and asked people to safeguard the state’s peace, traditions, and social harmony. She stressed that citizens must remain vigilant to ensure that no divisive or authoritarian forces succeed in breaking this unity.
Referring to the upcoming Assembly elections, Banerjee urged voters to exercise their democratic rights. She also appealed to the electorate to support candidates of the All India Trinamool Congress by voting for the party’s “twin flowers” symbol.
