April 15 (HS): A 75-year-old man was killed and his wife badly injured after
their son reportedly struck them with a stick during a quarrel about wheat
distribution in this village, authorities said on Wednesday. Mahendra Chauhan
was discovered dead at Natthupur hamlet, which is located inside the Rasra
police station area. According to officials, his wife Shaila Devi (68) was also
discovered injured beside his body. Deputy
Superintendent of Police Alok Gupta stated that a police team hurried to the
scene, took control of the body, and sent it for a postmortem. The injured
woman was taken to the district hospital. According to authorities, the
disagreement had been going on for two days when Mahendra Chauhan handed his
daughter two bags of wheat, which enraged his son, Pappu Chauhan.
In
a fit of fury, the accused reportedly used a stick to strike both of his
parents, killing his father. Police detained Pappu after receiving a complaint
from the deceased's son, Sukul Chauhan. According to authorities, further legal
processes are pending.
