Guwahati, 15 April (HS): Following the Supreme Court’s stay on the transit bail granted to Congress leader Pawan Khera, senior advocate Bijan Mahajan stated that the Assam Police can now proceed with his arrest for the purpose of investigation.

Mahajan remarked that with the apex court putting a hold on the transit bail, stricter legal action can now be initiated against Khera as per the provisions of law. He added that the transit bail granted earlier by the Telangana High Court had been challenged, leading to the latest development.

Echoing similar views, the Chief Minister said on social media that the law will take its own course and authorities will act in accordance with legal procedures. He emphasized that the stay order from the Supreme Court has opened the way for the Assam Police to take necessary action in the case.

It may be noted that the Supreme Court has stayed the transit bail granted to Pawan Khera, thereby allowing investigating agencies to move forward with legal proceedings.----------
