Bhubaneswar, 13 April (H.S.): At least one person was killed and 15 others injured after a Hyva truck collided with a private college bus near Oupada Chhak under Korei police limits in Jajpur district on Sunday night.The driver of the Hyva truck succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The accident occurred when the college bus, carrying students, was en route to Jajpur Road. Near Oupada Chhak, the Hyva truck allegedly approached from the wrong direction and rammed into the bus, triggering the collision.
Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and began rescue operations while informing the police. Personnel from Korei and Panikoili police stations arrived shortly and shifted the injured to Jajpur Road Medical using ambulances.
Several critically injured persons were later referred to hospitals in Cuttack and the District Headquarters Hospital in Jajpur for advanced treatment.
Officials said 11 injured students were shifted to Tata Hospital for further care, while one student recovered and was discharged.
