
Bajali (Assam), 13 April (HS): A state-level marathon race was organised early this morning at West Kathalmuri in Bajali, organized by Jonaki Sangha as part of the Rongali Bihu celebrations.
Continuing its annual tradition, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from athletes representing various parts of the state. The marathon commenced at around 5:30 AM from Patacharkuchi and concluded at the premises of Jonaki Sangha in West Kathalmuri, passing through Nityananda Chariali. The race covered a distance of approximately 25 kilometers and was flagged off by Nitul Sharma, an official of Pragjyotish Club, Patacharkuchi.
A total of 29 participants took part in the competition. According to the results, Tikheshwar Kurmi from Khumtai in Golaghat district secured the first position, while Surya Das from Morigaon district secured second, and Kumbha Deuri from Guwahati claimed the third position.
Meanwhile, the top seven winners were awarded cash prizes by the organizing committee. The marathon, held amid the festive spirit of Rongali Bihu, generated significant enthusiasm and excitement among the local residents.-----------
