Malda, 13 April (H.S.): A shocking incident has emerged from the Bengal–Bihar border area, where the blood-soaked body of a 21-year-old youth was recovered, triggering tension and grief in the locality. The deceased has been identified as Azmal Hossain, a resident of Dakshin Talshur village under Maliyor-II Gram Panchayat in Harishchandrapur-II block of Malda district.
Family members have alleged that Azmal was murdered and have demanded the immediate arrest and strict punishment of those responsible. His mobile phone is still missing, further deepening suspicions.
According to sources, Azmal had left his home around 9:30 PM on Sunday, stating that he was going to his in-laws’ house. On Monday morning, his body was recovered from the roadside near Noapara Bandh Road under Islampur Gram Panchayat, about 15 km from his residence, close to the Bengal–Bihar border. The police from Harishchandrapur police station reached the spot and recovered the body.
Multiple injury marks were found on his body, indicating signs of brutal assault. While his motorcycle was recovered from the scene, his mobile phone remains untraced.
Family sources stated that Azmal, the younger of two brothers, worked at a local lathe factory. On Sunday night, he had taken his employer’s bike to visit his in-laws but could not be contacted thereafter.
The body was sent to Malda Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. His death has cast a shadow of mourning over the entire area.
A family member alleged, “We saw a deep injury at the back of his head. It appears he was attacked with an iron rod. There are injury marks all over his body. The condition of the bike suggests it was deliberately damaged. His mobile phone is missing, which strengthens our suspicion of murder. We demand strict punishment for the culprits.”
The police have initiated an investigation and stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received.
