Hooghly, 13 April (H.S.): A vehicle carrying central forces personnel met with an accident while heading towards Birbhum, leaving three jawans and the driver injured. The incident occurred early Monday morning on National Highway 19 in Gurap police station area.

According to police sources, a Scorpio vehicle was carrying personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), including a medical officer, a senior commandant, and a security personnel. They were travelling towards Madgram in Birbhum via the national highway. It is reported that they had arrived at Kanthi station in Purba Medinipur from Gujarat by train and then proceeded towards Birbhum by road.

In the Gurap police station area along NH-19, their vehicle collided head-on with a lorry. The impact was severe, leaving the vehicle badly mangled. All occupants of the vehicle, including the driver and ITBP personnel, sustained injuries.

On information, Gurap police rushed to the spot and promptly rescued the injured individuals, shifting them to a private hospital in Burdwan for treatment.

An official from Hooghly Rural Police stated that the condition of all injured persons is currently stable. Necessary medical arrangements have been ensured, and a formal investigation has been initiated following legal procedures.
