New Delhi, 08 March (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to bestow a transformative gift upon Delhi residents today, inaugurating two pivotal metro corridors that will birth India's inaugural ring metro network while laying the foundation for further expansions.

Around noon,PM Modi will unveil and lay foundation stones for development projects worth approximately ₹33,500 crore, addressing a public gathering thereafter. Prior to the main event, he will visit the GPRA Type-5 quarters in Sarojini Nagar, handing over keys to women allottees, as per an official release. Delhi BJP chief Virender Sachdeva shared visuals of the program on X, while Chief Minister Rekha Gupta hailed it as a landmark day, predicting enhanced connectivity, faster travel, and reduced traffic and pollution.

At the forefront are Delhi Metro initiatives valued at ₹18,300 crore. Modi will commission the 12.3-km Majlis Park-Maujpur Babarpur corridor on the Pink Line and the 9.9-km Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park stretch on the Magenta Line, benefiting areas like Burari, Jagatpur-Vazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, and Bhalswa.

These additions complete Phase IV extensions, creating a seamless loop for northeastern Delhi commuters.

Additionally, under Phase 5-A, PM Modi will initiate three new 16.10-km corridors: R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. These will streamline journeys between Noida, South Delhi, and the airport, bolstering public transit efficiency.

Complementing the metro push,PM Modi will launch and break ground on GPRA redevelopment projects worth ₹15,200 crore at Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Shrinivaspuri. Executed via an innovative self-reliant financing model, they will deliver over 9,350 modern flats for government staff and 4.8 million sq ft of office space.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta emphasized on X that these strides will furnish millions with world-class, secure transport, aligning with Delhi's vision as a developed urban hub.
