Guwahati, 06 March (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s ongoing Jan Ashirwad Yatra has received an enthusiastic response from the public across Assam, significantly boosting the morale of party workers. As part of the campaign, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to visit Golaghat district on March 7.
According to the party, Sarma will participate in the yatra in four Assembly constituencies—Sarupathar, Golaghat, Khumtai and Dergaon—along with BJP Assam Pradesh president and Member of Parliament Dilip Saikia. The yatra, which began on February 28, aims to connect with people and seek their blessings ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
In a statement, BJP state spokesperson Suranjan Dutta said the Jan Ashirwad Yatra reflects the growing public support for the development initiatives undertaken by the state government. He said the programmes launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarma in sectors such as infrastructure, education and healthcare have received appreciation from people across the state.
As per the schedule, the Chief Minister will start the yatra from Sarupathar and travel through Golaghat and Khumtai before concluding the programme in Dergaon. Senior party leaders and a large number of supporters are expected to participate in the programme.
