Major Administrative Reshuffle in Assam Ahead of Assembly Elections

Guwahati, 05 March (HS): Ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, the state government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle, transferring several Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers.

According to a notification issued by the Personnel Department (Personnel-A), Dispur, several officers at the level of District Commissioners and Secretaries have been reassigned. The notification detailing the transfers was signed by Personnel (A) Department Secretary Monita Borgohain.

As per the order, Partha Pratim Majumdar (IAS) has been transferred and appointed as the District Commissioner of Bajali. Narendra Kumar Shah (IAS) has been appointed as Secretary to the Government of Assam. Aditya Vikram Yadav (IAS) has been posted as the District Commissioner of Lakhimpur, while Preeti Kumari (IAS) has been appointed as the District Commissioner of West Karbi Anglong. Ayushi Jain (IAS) has been appointed as the District Commissioner of Darrang district.

In the ACS cadre, Meenakshi Das Nath has been relieved of the additional charge of Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Pubali Gohain (ACS) has been appointed as the District Commissioner of Golaghat. Saranga Pani Sarma (ACS) and Gautam Das (ACS) have been appointed as Secretaries to the Government of Assam.

Additionally, Jatin Bora (ACS) has also been appointed as Secretary to the Government of Assam. Pranab Jeet Kakoty (ACS), Parag Kumar Kakoty (ACS) and Mridul Kumar Das (ACS) have been appointed as Additional Secretaries in the state government. Dhiraj Saud (ACS) has been appointed as the District Commissioner of Baksa, while Gakul Chandra Brahma (ACS) has been posted as the District Commissioner of Chirang.

The large-scale administrative reshuffle is being seen as a significant step to streamline governance and strengthen administrative efficiency ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.----------
