
Thiruvananthapuram, 05 March (H.S): The annual SSLC and Higher Secondary examinations for the 2025–26 academic year began today across Kerala, with lakhs of students appearing for the crucial public examinations that determine their academic progression.
According to the General Education Department, a total of 4,17,497 students are appearing for the SSLC (Class 10) examinations this year. The exams are being conducted at 3,031 centres across the State. In addition, 633 students from Gulf centres and 386 students from Lakshadweep have also registered for the SSLC examinations.
However, the SSLC examination scheduled for today in Gulf centres has been postponed due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, authorities said. The Higher Secondary examinations that were scheduled to be held today, tomorrow and the day after in the Gulf region have also been postponed in view of the prevailing security situation.
Across Kerala, elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations. The government has deployed around 26,000 teachers for various duties related to the examination process, including invigilation and supervision.
The SSLC examinations will continue until March 30. Following the completion of the exams, valuation camps will begin on April 7 and conclude on April 28, officials said.
The State government aims to announce the SSLC results by the third week of May, enabling students to proceed with admissions for higher studies without delay.
Meanwhile, the Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary first-year examinations also began today and will continue until March 27. A total of 4,11,025 students are appearing for the first-year examinations.
The second-year Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary examinations will begin tomorrow and conclude on March 28. Around 4,52,437 students are expected to appear for the second-year examinations.
In addition to the regular candidates, 34,122 students have registered for the first-year improvement examination, which allows students to improve their previous scores.
The Higher Secondary Education Department has announced that the results of the Higher Secondary examinations are expected to be declared on May 22, while the SSLC results are likely to be announced earlier in the third week of May.
