Kolkata, 05 March (H.S.) The police have arrested two key accused in connection with the shooting death of a promoter in West Bengal’s Howrah district, officials said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Harun Sheikh and Rohit Hussain, were apprehended in Delhi by a special team of Golabari police station following a tip-off, they said.

Both accused are being brought to Howrah on transit remand on Thursday for further investigation.

Several other accused have already been arrested earlier in connection with the case, police sources said.

Promoter Shafiq Khan was allegedly shot dead in the Pilkhana area under Golabari police station area on Wednesday morning last week. According to investigators, Harun and Rohit allegedly fired four rounds at point-blank range at Khan’s head and chest on a public road, killing him on the spot.

The police are continuing their probe to ascertain the motive and the role of other persons involved in the incident, officials added.
