Bhubaneswar, 05 March (H.S.): Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidates Santrupt Misra and Dr. Datteswar Hota on Thursday filed their nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections in Odisha.

The nominations were submitted at the Odisha Legislative Assembly in the presence of BJD president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das.

According to party sources, Misra filed his nomination for the third Rajya Sabha seat, while Hota was fielded as a common candidate for the fourth seat with the support of the Congress party. The nominations were submitted on the final day of the filing process.

The occasion witnessed an unusual political moment as BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik and PCC president Bhakta Charan Das were seen seated together during the nomination filing. Despite representing rival political parties and often engaging in sharp political exchanges, the two leaders were seen sharing the stage in a rare show of political cooperation.

Speaking to mediapersons after the filing of nominations, Naveen Patnaik said, “I am very glad to announce that two candidates of the BJD — Santrupt Misra and Dr. Datteswar Hota — have filed their nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections. I congratulate both of them.”BJD Candidates File Nominations for Rajya Sabha Elections in Odisha
