Lucknow,

31 March (HS): Bahujan

Samaj Party (BSP) National President Mayawati stated that the war currently

underway between the United States, Israel, and Iran is causing India to face a

shortage of cooking gas, petrol, and petroleum products. This has led to a

sharp increase in the prices of all types of goods. The already struggling poor

and working class are finding their problems exacerbated by this adding

insult to injury. The government must continue to take effective steps to

address this, ensuring the country's people don't face another unprecedented

crisis like demonetization and the coronavirus pandemic.

BSP

chief Mayawati held a review meeting with party officials at the party office

on Tuesday. The primary objective was to assess the progress report on recent

directives and actions taken in the interest of the party organization. During

the meeting, the BSP chief stated that millions of people are deeply troubled

by the government's indifference to the nation and public interest, and they

have significant expectations from the BSP. To meet these expectations,

officials and workers must work with complete dedication and commitment.

Negligence in this regard will not be tolerated at all.

The

meeting discussed pressing national issues, including rising inflation and

unemployment. Specifically, the various challenges posed by the ongoing conflict

between the United States, Israel, and Iran were also discussed. The BSP chief

urged the government to ensure that self-reliance is not merely an

attractive slogan but must be transformed into reality with full urgency and

honesty. This requires intensive efforts to address the crisis surrounding

fuel, which hinders the country's development and well-being.

The

BSP chief said that on matters of national and public interest, it is crucial

for the government to work on long-term policies by taking the opposition into

confidence and working through consensus. It is also important to seriously

consider whether relying heavily on the private sector can make the country

self-reliant and self-sufficient.

Regarding

the upcoming UP Assembly elections, Mayawati stated that criminal elements,

unlike other parties, should not be given any patronage. As the BSP holds a

distinct identity of for the welfare of all and for the happiness of

all, she directed that proper consideration be given to ensuring fair and

appropriate representation for all sections of society when shortlisting party

candidates.

Attacking

the government on the issue of reservation, Mayawati said that no amount of

condemnation would be enough for the way the central and state governments are

trying to make ineffective the right of SC-ST and OBC communities, especially

the reservation, given in the Constitution to integrate them with the

mainstream. She said that if women from weaker sections are not given separate

reservation in women's reservation, will the expected development of these

sections be possible, it is a matter of concern and the central government

should pay attention to this. Finally, the BSP chief said that April 14 is the

birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Party officials and

workers will pay tribute to Baba Saheb in 18 divisions.
