
Alappuzha,03 March (H.S.): Two young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Cherthala in Kerala’s Alappuzha district shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
The victims have been identified as Aarav Krishna (24), a native of Vayalar, and Nandagopal (22), hailing from Thanneermukkom.
The fatal accident occurred at 11th Mile Pallikkavala junction in Cherthala around 12 a.m. According to preliminary reports, the car in which the two youths were travelling collided head-on with a tipper lorry coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car extensively damaged.
Local residents rushed to the scene after hearing the loud crash and found the occupants trapped inside the mangled vehicle. With collective effort, they pulled the injured youths out and immediately shifted them to a nearby hospital. However, despite prompt medical attention, both Aarav Krishna and Nandagopal succumbed to their injuries.
Police officials said an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether over-speeding or driver fatigue contributed to the collision. Traffic in the area was briefly disrupted before authorities cleared the damaged vehicles and restored normal movement.
The bodies have been shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Vandanam, for post-mortem examination. The sudden demise of the two youngsters has cast a pall of gloom over their native places, with relatives and friends mourning the tragic loss. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly during late-night travel, to prevent such fatal accidents.
