Lucknow, 03 March (HS): A teen
was allegedly slain in a shooting during a birthday party in Lucknow's Krishna
Nagar neighborhood, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Monday at
6.40 p.m. at an LDA Colony apartment within the Krishna Nagar police station
boundaries. Unais Khan, the victim, went to his residence with three other kids
to attend a friend's birthday celebration. During the celebration, 13-year-old
Navneet Tripathi reportedly took out his father's licensed revolver from a car
parked outside and inadvertently shot it, according to police. The gunshot
struck Unais above the left eye, causing him to slump on the floor. He was
transported to Lokbandhu Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His relatives
said that Unais was shot by an adult and that the fire was not an accident.
Nipun Agarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police
(Lucknow South), stated three kids who were present at the party were detained
and questioned. On March 2, the Krishna Nagar police station got word that a
13-year-old boy, Unais Khan, a resident of Transport Nagar, had died as a
result of an unintentional shooting while attending a birthday celebration with
friends. A case has been opened based on a complaint lodged by the deceased's
relatives, and additional legal action is being pursued, according to Agarwal. Police
said they had confiscated the revolver and were reviewing CCTV video. According
to the local police, Tripathi was filming with the revolver when it went off.
Unais, a seventh-grade student, was the captain of
his school's football squad, authorities said. He was survived by his mother,
Sama Sehroz, and older brother. His father, Zameer Khan, stated that his son
had been following roza and did not want to attend the party, but his friends
persisted. We received a report that a bullet had been fired at the party, he
stated, adding that the incident was not accidental and that his kid had been
shot in the center of his forehead by an adult.
Sameer Khan, Unais' uncle, stated that the family
first hesitated to take the youngster to the party since he was fasting, but
his friends convinced them that he could break his fast there.
Now this thing has occurred. It is very incorrect. What else can we say? he
said.
