
Maharajganj, 03 March (HS): A
lady was charged with murder after reportedly setting fire to her house after
trapping her sleeping husband inside in Baspar village, Maharajganj district,
police said on Tuesday. Rampat (65) was sleeping in his home when his wife,
Sumitra (60), set fire to it, locked the door from the outside, and left,
according to police, who discovered the husband’s, burned remains inside. Villagers
spotted smoke billowing from the house and got alarmed, causing them to contact
the police. When the police arrived at the spot and opened the door, they discovered
Rampat's burnt remains. According to the locals, there was an ongoing quarrel
between Rampat and Sumitra. Police said she had previously attempted to murder
her spouse.
An
inquiry is presently ongoing to discover whether the duo had previously made
any threats or committed any acts of violence. According to Abhishek Singh,
Station Officer (SO) of the Shyamdeurwa police station, Sumitra has been
charged with murder under Section 103(1) of the BNS. The deceased's body has
been submitted for a post-mortem examination, and police are looking for
Sumitra, according to reports. According to preliminary findings, a marital
disagreement may have been the cause for the murder. In addition, police
personnel have been stationed in the area as a precaution, and the situation is
being continuously monitored, Singh stated.
