45-year-old man was detained here on Tuesday for reportedly bashing his wife to

death with a stick after she did not answer his phone call, according to

police. On Tuesday morning, an incident happened in Sewra Charthai hamlet,

which is located under the jurisdiction of the Dhanpatganj police station. According

to police, the offender, named as Nakched (45), was working on construction on

Monday when he contacted his wife Kusum (42), who did not respond because she

was busy.

Infuriated

by this, Nakched went home about midnight and reportedly beat Kusum in front of

their two children, Udaybhan (9) and Diksha (8). When youngsters attempted to

intercede, he shoved them away, according to authorities. According to Diksha,

her father continued to abuse her mother throughout the night, causing her to

take Kusum to a relative's residence.

However,

when they got home in the morning, the accused assaulted Kusum with a stick

again, forcing her to fall immediately. She was transported to the hospital,

where physicians pronounced her dead. Circle Officer Baldirai Ashutosh Kumar

stated that he, Station House Officer Anju Mishra, and a police team arrived at

the area and conducted an inspection. The body was submitted for a post-mortem.

The accused was caught, and during questioning, he acknowledged to abusing his

wife but claimed he had no idea it would lead to her death, police said. The

couple has two small children and one older son, Tilak Raj (22), who works in

Punjab. Police say an investigation is ongoing.
