Varanasi,
24 March (HS): A 30-year-old man and his sister were murdered after their house
fell following a gas cylinder explosion in Varanasi's Lahartara region on
Tuesday, according to police. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Neetu
Kadyan, the event occurred at Girija Devi's home, where the explosion caused
the house to collapse, trapping family members under the wreckage.
Girija
Devi, her two boys, and a daughter were rescued from the rubble by police, fire
services, and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, who worked with
neighbors. They were transferred directly to Banaras Hindu University's trauma
center for treatment. Girija
Devi and one of her sons were injured, but her other son Om (30) and daughter
Preeti (28) were pronounced dead, according to the officer.
According
to Kadyan, preliminary investigations indicate that the gas cylinder had been
leaking during the night and burst when Girija Devi tried to start the stove in
the morning. Further legal action is being taken in the case, according to
police.
